Shekou Network Valley, Shenzhen

A new Innovation Cluster for Shenzen. Our design follows the natural pathway flowing between the Danan Mountain range in the west, through the Lizhi Park to the waterfront of Shenzen Bay in the east. Our goal was to create a new buildingtypology that is able to better address the needs of contemporary technology firms. The main idea of a Network/ HUB which transforms into spatial areas & functional workspaces has been one of the guiding design elements. All buildings are connected to each other to create a unified, campus-style typology which helps to promote spontaneous meetings of tenants, researchers, academics and staff to encourage sharing of knowledge and stimulate thought and ideas. The site functions as an innovation cluster for technology firms. It includes seven individual spead scross three separate plots of land with individual building heights ranging from 22 to 50 meters. The program includes office and retail space, together with public open spaces.It is designed with strict sustainable design principles, inclusive of high performance facade and glazing systems, pre-heating/cooling air intake systems for HVAC, heat recovery, solar photo voltaic panels, and wind turbines and rainwater collection. Central atria are designed to maximize natural lighting and to allow cross ventilation throughout every building.
