SkyTeam Lounge, Airport Frankfurt am Main

Europe’s first SkyTeam Lounge at Frankfurt Airport’s new Terminal 3 translates the experience of air travel into an open, nature-inspired hospitality environment characterized by fluid spatial transitions, warm materials, and integrated greenery. Spanning 569 m², the lounge expresses SkyTeam’s brand identity through a generous and fluid architectural language, seamlessly integrating dining, relaxation, and waiting areas into a holistic passenger experience.

Inspired by the organic rhythms of nature, the design concept embraces the spatial conditions of the existing structure, transforming inherent constraints into distinctive architectural elements that shape the character of the space.

At the heart of the lounge stands a sculptural tree-like structure that integrates an existing column while establishing the central dining and social area. From this focal point, all functions are intuitively organized throughout the lounge: dining and bar areas frame the vibrant social core, while lounge and quiet zones along the facade offer expansive views of the airfield. A live-cooking station and a fully equipped production kitchen complement the food and beverage offering, elevating the guest experience through culinary excellence.

Warm timber finishes, natural materials, and bespoke joinery define the lounge’s atmosphere. The design combines spatial clarity with a strong sense of place, creating an environment that responds equally to the complex operational requirements of an international airport and to travellers’ needs for relaxation, comfort, and orientation.
